RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026: 2008 slots, apply by 22 November

Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC) Jaipur opened online applications for the NWR Act Apprentice 2026-27 batch on 23 October 2026. Its revised Notice No. 04/2026 (NWR/AA), dated 21 October, states 2008 training slots across eight North Western Railway divisions and workshops. You can apply if you passed Class 10 with at least 50% marks and hold an NCVT or SCVT ITI certificate in the notified trade. The last date is 22 November 2026, 23:59.

There is no written exam or interview. RRC Jaipur ranks applicants by the average of their Class 10 and ITI percentages, separately for each unit and trade.

One warning before you start: RRC Jaipur issued this notice twice. The first version, dated 30 September, has been cancelled, and several job-alert sites still carry its numbers. Use only the revised notice.

What changed in the revised NWR Act Apprentice notice?

The revised notice replaces the 30 September notice completely. FreeJobAlert reported that a covering notice from RRC Jaipur cites a partial change in the demand for trades as the reason. The dates, the age cut-off and the division tables all moved.

Trades moved too. In the DRM Jaipur table, Fitter (Mechanical) rose from 164 to 186 slots. Electronics Mechanic (S&T) fell from 127 to 45, Electrician (Elect./G) from 123 to 49, and Computer Operator and Programming Assistant from 79 to 4. Re-check your unit and trade in the revised PDF, even if you looked at the old one.

The revised notice does not say whether anything submitted under the old notice carries over. Treat 23 October as day one, and ask the RRC helpline if you registered earlier.

The window is 31 days. The last date, 22 November, is a Sunday, and the helpline does not run on Sundays. Plan to finish by Friday 20 November so you can get help if the form gives trouble.

The notice says 2008 slots, but the unit totals above add up to 2,234. RRC Jaipur has not explained the 226 difference. The notice also calls the slot numbers provisional, so they can rise or fall when selection is finalised. For the real figure for your unit, read the trade-wise table in the official PDF.

Slots are split by UR, OBC, SC, ST and EWS. Reserved slots for persons with benchmark disabilities and ex-servicemen sit inside the totals, not on top of them.

Who is eligible for RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026?

Education. Class 10 (or equivalent under the 10+2 system) with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board. The notice says no rounding off, so 49.99% does not qualify. You also need an NCVT or SCVT National Trade Certificate in the trade you apply for. You must hold both on the date you submit. Candidates still waiting for final results should not apply.

Age. You must have completed 15 years and not completed 24 years on 22 November 2026. The upper limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC and 10 years for persons with benchmark disabilities. Ex-servicemen get a separate relaxation based on their length of service (clause 8.4 of the notice).

How does RRC Jaipur prepare the merit list?

RRC Jaipur adds your Class 10 percentage (all subjects counted) and your ITI percentage (as printed on the provisional or final certificate), then takes the simple average. If your Class 10 is 72.40% and your ITI is 68.10%, your merit score is 70.25%.

• If two candidates tie, the older one ranks first. If birth dates also match, the one who passed Class 10 earlier ranks first.
• Merit lists are made unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise, with as many names as there are slots. There is no single centralised list.
• Document verification and the medical examination happen at the unit you chose, in merit order.

Because the lists are per unit and trade, competition differs from one unit to the next. Check the slot count for your trade in each unit before you pick one. You choose only one, and the notice does not allow changes after final submission.

How do you apply, and what should you keep ready?

1. Open the official RRC Jaipur website, rrcjaipur.in, and use the application link there.
2. Register with your 12-digit Aadhaar number, an active mobile number and a valid email ID. Important messages go by email and SMS, and the notice treats them as read.
3. Fill in your details exactly as they appear on your Class 10 certificate. A mismatch in name, father’s name or date of birth found at verification cancels your candidature and can lead to debarment.
4. Choose one unit and the trade your ITI certificate covers.
5. Upload your photo and signature.
6. Pay the fee online if it applies, then download the form. Note your registration number and keep the printout and e-receipt. Do not post anything to RRC.

Does the apprenticeship lead to a railway job?

No. Training under the Apprentices Act 1961 gives no right to absorption into the railway after you finish. The notice states the stipend follows Railway Board rules and gives no fixed amount. There is no hostel, so you arrange your own stay. Before training starts you sign a contract of apprenticeship with the employer. No travel or daily allowance is paid for document verification.

Many apprentices use the training year to also think about studying further.
